Abi & Brothers Pty Ltd Unit 6, 78-80 Wellington Road, Clayton 3168 Full-Time Painting Trades Worker Salary: $80,000 - $85,000 per annum (plus superannuation) Position Overview The Painter is responsible for preparing, painting, and finishing various surfaces, both interior and exterior, across a range of projects. This role requires attention to detail, the ability to work independently or as part of a team, and a strong commitment to producing high-quality, long-lasting finishes. Key Responsibilities • Clean, sand, and prime surfaces to ensure smooth and ready-to-paint conditions. • Repair damaged areas (e.g., holes, cracks) using fillers and patching materials. • Ensure that surfaces are free from contaminants that may interfere with paint adhesion. • Accurately mix paints, stains, and other materials to achieve the desired texture, colour, and finish. • Apply paint, varnishes, and other coatings to a variety of surfaces, ensuring even coverage and a smooth finish. • Use brushes, rollers, sprayers, and other painting tools effectively and safely. • Apply decorative finishes, including faux painting, glazing, and other specialised techniques, as required by clients or project specifications. • Provide recommendations on colours, finishes, and techniques based on customer preferences or project needs. • Conduct repairs and touch-ups to existing painted surfaces to maintain the aesthetic and integrity of the work. • Re-paint or re-coat surfaces as required to extend the life and appearance of the finishes. • Follow safety procedures and regulations to maintain a safe and clean working environment. • Ensure all tools and equipment are maintained in good working order and used in a safe manner. • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain compliance with workplace health and safety standards. • Communicate effectively with clients, understanding their requirements and providing professional advice on painting techniques and colour choices. • Maintain positive relationships with clients, ensuring their satisfaction with the finished work. • Ensure that all painting tools, brushes, sprayers, and other equipment are properly cleaned and maintained after use. • Report any malfunctioning or damaged equipment to management for repair or replacement. • Maintain a clean and tidy work environment by ensuring all materials and tools are properly stored and organised. • Assist with the overall cleanliness of the project site during and after painting tasks. Skills and Qualifications • Proven experience as a painter of at least one year of experience with a strong portfolio of completed projects. • Proficiency in surface preparation, painting techniques, and the use of various painting tools. • Good knowledge of painting materials, their applications, and techniques. • Ability to work efficiently and meet project deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards. • Strong attention to detail and an eye for precision in painting and finishing. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong communication and interpersonal skills. • Knowledge of workplace health and safety procedures and practices. • Valid driver’s licence (if required for travel to different job sites). Physical Requirements • Ability to lift, carry, and move painting materials and equipment (up to 20kg). • Ability to work on ladders, scaffolding, and at heights as required. • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to handle painting tools and materials. • Ability to work in varying weather conditions for exterior projects.
