Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Qualification Requirements All Temporary/Relief Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) assigned to CDCR must meet the following minimum requirements: Qualification Requirements Minimum of twelve (12) continuous months of direct patient care experience within the last three (3) years in a public or private institution. Clinical competencies must be current. Possess and maintain a current California Nursing Assistant Certificate. Hold a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (with AED). Provide documentation of competency validation requirements in accordance with Title 22, Sections 70016 or 70016.1. Comply with 8 CCR 5199 standards, including current N95/PAPR medical clearance and annual respiratory protection training. Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills in English. Job Responsibilities Under the direction of the Institution's CEO/CNE or designee, responsibilities include but are not limited to: Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) and provide nursing care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). Monitor and document patient conditions and promptly report any changes to the RN. Obtain specimens for diagnostic testing. Assist healthcare staff with patient care services. Prepare documentation for patient transfers and specialty appointments. Complete required documentation, reports, and logbook entries accurately. Clean, maintain, and inspect medical equipment. Manage inventory and medical supplies.
