Quality Inspectors
• Location: Nelson, Lancashire
Contract: 12 week temp to perm (acting as the probation as agreed with the client), converting to a permanent role based on performance / attendance within the 12-week period.
Shifts available:
• Days: 08:00 16:30, Monday to Friday - 16.62 per hour
• Nights: 22:00 07:00, Monday to Thursday - 23.27 per hour
We’re working with a long standing precision engineering business in East Lancashire that manufactures high accuracy machined components for demanding industries. They’re looking for a hands on Quality Inspector whose main focus is physical inspection work, not paperwork or admin. This is a shop floor role centred around checking precision parts using CMM and traditional measuring tools.
Key responsibilities:
• Inspect precision machined components using CMM, hand gauges, micrometers, verniers and other measurement equipment
• Carry out first off checks, in process inspections and final sign off against engineering drawings and specifications
• Work alongside machinists and production staff to resolve any quality issues as they arise
• Accurately record inspection outcomes and maintain relevant quality records
• Support ongoing quality improvements and help uphold the company’s quality standards
• Ensure all measuring equipment is kept in calibration and good working order
• Work efficiently to meet production deadlines in a busy engineering environment
• Use IT systems confidently (Excel, Word, internal production databases); training provided
Skills & experience:
• Previous experience as a Quality Inspector within a precision engineering or machine shop setting
• Strong practical inspection skills using CMM and conventional measuring instruments
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work to tight tolerances
• High level of attention to detail and a clear focus on quality
• Comfortable working on the shop floor as part of a production team
• Experience in aerospace, defence or similar high spec sectors would be an advantage
• Familiarity with formal quality systems (e.g. AS9100) is beneficial but not essential
• Good IT skills (Excel, Word and database use); training provided
• GCSEs or equivalent qualifications preferred
