Must Haves:
- 3+ years of healthcare underwriting experience
- Experience underwriting self-funded and/or level-funded group medical plans
- Strong renewal underwriting experience
- Experience analyzing claims data and utilization trends
- Experience projecting high-cost claimant expenses into future policy years
- Experience supporting small-to-mid-sized groups (up to 200 lives preferred)
- Advanced Excel and/or Google Sheets skills
- Experience using Salesforce or similar CRM platforms
- Strong analytical and technical skills
- Experience partnering with Sales, Account Management, brokers, or client-facing teams
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Preferred:
- Stop-loss underwriting experience
- Experience supporting busy season renewal cycles
- Experience in startup or high-growth environments
- Professional certifications (HIA, CEBS, MHP, FLMI)
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Temporary Underwriter to support a busy-season renewal workload. This role will focus on self-funded and level-funded renewals, analyzing claims data, utilization trends, and high-cost claimant risk to develop accurate renewal recommendations. The Underwriter will partner closely with Sales and Account Management teams while leveraging Google Sheets and Salesforce to manage a high volume of renewal activity. Ideal candidates will have strong healthcare underwriting experience, level-funded renewal expertise, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
