Food Laboratory Assistant

The Services required areset out as follows:

•              Be in theTeacher’s Preparation Room and food laboratories during working hours

•              Ordering of foodingredients before lesson

•              Preparation ofingredients before lessons, ensuring food is prepared and handled safely

•              Maintainingcleanliness of utensils, equipment and food laboratories areas

•              Handlinginventory and stock taking of resources e.g. books, utensils and equipment

•              Assisting theteacher during practical session e.g. ensuring that students observe safetyrules, guiding students in preparation skills

•              Administration –Checking and filing of invoices and keeping track of the cost of theingredients

•              Any other dutiesrelating to the food laboratories assigned by NFS teachers, SH/NFS, HOD/Craftand Technology and the School Leaders.

Qualifications, skills andexperience:

•              Minimumqualification of Primary 6

•              Able to converseand write in English

•              Basicmathematical skills e.g. able to calculate the amount of ingredients based on agiven recipe for seven classes

•              Good knowledge onfood ingredients and food preparation. Preferably to have attained the BasicFood Hygiene Course

•              Must have atleast 1 year experience working on food preparation in a commercial/school ortraining kitchen

Previous working experience in a school-kitchenwill be an added advantage
