Forest Key is looking for a **Geospatial AI Developer** to strengthen our capacity to develop AI-based solutions for forestry.
We work at the intersection of forestry, remote sensing, GIS, data analytics and software development. The role supports our growing international project portfolio and the development of customer-specific digital solutions for operational forestry.
**Your role**
Your main task will be to develop **AI-based remote-sensing and GIS data-processing solutions for forestry applications**.
The emphasis is on technical development, analytical workflows and robust code rather than polished user-interface development.
Your work may include:
- developing AI and machine-learning solutions using remote-sensing, GIS and forestry data;
- processing and analysing satellite, LiDAR, drone and other large geospatial datasets;
- developing Python-based workflows and maintainable processing pipelines;
- implementing solutions in cloud or other scalable computing environments; and
- supporting technical demonstrations, customer discussions and solution development.
**What we are looking for**
You do not need to be a senior specialist. We are interested in someone with relevant practical experience, strong technical skills and the ability to develop toward independent responsibility.
We expect:
- strong **Python** programming skills;
- practical experience with **AI or machine learning**;
- experience with **remote sensing, GIS and LiDAR or point-cloud data**;
- relevant experience or understanding of the **forest sector and forestry applications**;
- ability to develop analytical work into repeatable and maintainable technical solutions;
- ability to work independently and solve complex technical problems; and
- professional proficiency in **English**.
Professional proficiency in Finnish is a clear advantage.
**Additional advantages**
Experience with one or more of the following is beneficial:
- deep learning, computer vision or advanced point-cloud processing;
- Azure or another cloud environment, Docker or related deployment technologies;
- spatial databases or geospatial software development;
- technical customer meetings and demonstrations; or
- other languages relevant to international work.
Occasional participation in customer visits, conferences or international project activities may be possible.
**What we offer**
You will join a small and growing team where your work has a direct influence on the technical solutions we develop.
The role offers opportunities to:
- work on real operational forestry problems;
- combine AI, software development, GIS and remote sensing;
- participate in Finnish and international projects;
- contribute to new digital forestry services; and
- take increasing technical responsibility as your experience develops.
**Location and working arrangements**
Our office is in **Joensuu**, and the possibility to work regularly from Joensuu is a clear advantage. Hybrid and remote working arrangements within Finland are possible.
The position can be **full-time**, but working hours can also be adapted for a suitable candidate who is completing studies.
For administrative reasons, we are currently looking for a person who is resident and able to work in Finland.
**How to apply**
Please send your **CV** and a short description of:
- your relevant experience;
- the types of AI, remote-sensing, GIS or software-development work you have done; and
- why you would like to join Forest Key.
Send your application to:
