Job Overview

The Senior Associate Athletics Director for Internal Operations serves as a member of the department’s leadership team that is committed to excellence and advancing the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics through its strategic plan. In alignment with the department’s mission and values and in conjunction with other sport administrators this position participates in the development and coordination of programs, policies and procedures for all 29 sports. This position has oversight of multiple internal units, including compliance, sports medicine, sports performance, facilities and operations.  Additionally, the position is the primary liaison to several University constituents including academics, admissions, financial aid, housing & dining, student conduct, University compliance & ethics and General Counsel.  This position administers assigned athletic sport programs including supervision of head coaches, monitoring budgets, developing competition activities, approving team travel and expenses, overseeing student-athlete academic progress and welfare, educating coaches on NCAA and conference rules. Work to identify current trends and new technologies in intercollegiate athletic and develop methods to educate coaches and staff.  Serves on NCAA, BIG EAST Conference, University and department committees as assigned. This position works in a creative and collaborative team environment where change is embraced and innovation is encouraged.

Work Interactions

This position reports directly to the Director of Athletics and serves on the senior staff.  This position is the direct report for head coaches, as assigned, the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance, the Associate AD for Student-Athlete Health & Wellness, the Associate AD for Sports Performance and the Assistant AD for Events & Operations.  Due to the broad scope of activities, the Sr. Associate AD for Internal Operations will be required to interact extensively with coaches, student athletes and other on-campus departments that support the student experience.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in the administration of intercollegiate sport programs including supervision of coaches and budget development or coaching at an NCAA participating athletics department

  • Knowledge and experience in NCAA rules and compliance

Preferences Qualifications

  • Master’s degree

  • Candidates will possess excellent communication skills, demonstrated ability to work with a diverse population, experience in creating and implementing personal and professional development opportunities for coaches and student-athletes

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

$80,429.00 - $157,238.93

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
