Requirements of the Field Technician
Valid driver’s license, car insurance, clean driving record and reliable transportation are required
Ability to use smart phones, tablets and laptops.
Ability to spend long hours on your feet.
Utility construction in an outside plant environment preferred.
Reading and analyzing utility work prints preferred.
Aerial, underground or buried telecom infrastructure knowledge preferred.
Knowledge of AutoCAD and GIS preferred.
Responsibilities of the Field Technician
Taking pictures of work performed and submitting field notes to engineers.
Accurately locate and mark underground utilities including water, gas, electric, sewer, and telecommunications using specialized equipment.
Interpret utility maps, blueprints, and site drawings to determine the presence and location of underground lines.
Communicate with contractors, site supervisors, and homeowners to coordinate safe digging practices and avoid utility damage.
Maintain detailed records and digital reports of completed locates using mobile GPS and utility mapping software.
Perform quality assurance checks to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines including 811 One Call regulations.
Identify and resolve discrepancies between marked utilities and project plans, escalating unresolved issues to supervisors when necessary.
Adhere to strict safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) while working in varying weather conditions and active construction zones.
