Position: Web Accessibility Specialist (Ref: 18628) Location: Nashville, TN USA, 37243 Salary: DOE Duration: 10 Months 8 Days - Contract Openings: 1 Deadline: 09/07/2026 Description: ***Hybrid Seeking a Web Accessibility Consultant to support the creation, remediation, testing, and maintenance of accessible electronic documents and forms. The consultant will collaborate with internal policy and compliance teams to ensure all electronic documents meet WCAG 2.1/2.2 Level AA standards, PDF/UA specifications, and digital accessibility best practices while preserving substantive content, terminology, and legal intent. Key Responsibilities • Review and remediate policy documents, protocol documents, and fillable forms to ensure full accessibility compliance. • Create accessible Microsoft Word source documents and convert them into fully tagged, accessible PDFs. • Remediate existing PDF files in Adobe Acrobat Pro to meet WCAG 2.1/2.2 Level AA and PDF/UA standards. • Develop and remediate accessible fillable PDF forms, focusing on field labels, tooltips, tab order, grouping, radio buttons/checkboxes, and keyboard navigation. • Conduct both manual and automated accessibility testing using tools such as NVDA, WAVE, ANDI, and Color Contrast Analyzers. • Establish logical document structure, heading hierarchies, lists, tables, reading orders, and meaningful alternative text for visual elements. • Perform pre-publication quality assurance reviews on all remediated assets. • Assist in developing and refining accessible Word and PDF form templates to streamline ongoing document creation. Qualifications & Experience • Strong working knowledge of WCAG 2.1 and 2.2 Level AA standards applied to digital documents. • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Acrobat Pro accessibility remediation (Tag Trees, Reading Order, Content Panel, Table Editor, Artifacting). • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word accessibility features (Styles, Headings, Alt Text, Table Headers, Document Properties). • Hands-on experience with screen readers (NVDA, JAWS) and assistive technologies to validate document usability. • Familiarity with PDF Accessibility Checker (PAC) and the Matterhorn Protocol for PDF/UA validation.
